Under 1,000 miles to go.
Golden Arrow Marine is proud to continue supporting Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell as he takes on an extraordinary solo, unsupported ocean-rowing challenge to raise funds and awareness for Rock 2 Recovery CIC.
Having supported Dinger during his training and preparations alongside Golden Arrow Technologies and Torqeedo, we have been following his progress as he takes on his biggest rowing challenge yet.
Now, with fewer than 1,000 miles remaining, Dinger is continuing to push towards his goal while raising funds for an important cause.
Who is Dinger Bell?
Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell is an experienced ocean rower taking on a major solo and unsupported rowing challenge.
It is a demanding undertaking that requires extensive preparation, resilience and the ability to operate independently in a challenging marine environment for an extended period.
For Golden Arrow Marine, supporting Dinger’s preparations was an opportunity to use our marine industry experience and resources to help a campaign with a wider purpose.
Alongside Golden Arrow Technologies, we were pleased to provide a Torqeedo electric outboard to support Dinger during his training and preparations for the row.
While our contribution represents only a small part of the overall challenge, we are pleased to have played a role in helping Dinger prepare for the journey ahead.
Raising funds for Rock 2 Recovery
At the heart of Dinger’s challenge is his fundraising for Rock 2 Recovery CIC.
Rock 2 Recovery supports members of the Armed Forces, veterans, emergency services personnel and their families who are affected by stress.
Dinger’s ocean row is helping to raise both funds and awareness for the organisation, turning an extraordinary personal challenge into an opportunity to support others.
Golden Arrow Marine has supported Rock 2 Recovery fundraising activities over a number of years, making Dinger’s latest challenge particularly meaningful to our team.
Supporting Dinger with Torqeedo electric propulsion
Preparation is an essential part of any major offshore challenge.
During Dinger’s training, Golden Arrow Marine and Golden Arrow Technologies were able to support his campaign with a Torqeedo outboard.
Torqeedo specialises in electric marine propulsion systems designed for a wide range of marine applications. Electric outboards provide an alternative propulsion solution for applications where factors such as compact installation, ease of operation and electric power are important.
Golden Arrow Marine works with a range of marine propulsion technologies and manufacturers, supporting customers with technical advice, installation, servicing and ongoing marine engineering requirements.
Our involvement with Dinger’s preparations demonstrates one of the many environments in which marine technology can play a supporting role, even when the ultimate journey is powered by nothing more than determination and a pair of oars.
Under 1,000 miles remaining
Dinger has now reached another major milestone in the challenge, with fewer than 1,000 miles left to row.
It is an impressive point to reach, but there is still a significant distance ahead.
Solo ocean rowing places considerable demands on both the individual and their equipment. Every mile represents continued progress towards completing the challenge and generating further awareness for Rock 2 Recovery.
We will be following Dinger closely as he works through the remaining miles.
A challenge worth getting behind
Golden Arrow Marine is proud to have contributed to Dinger’s preparations and we would encourage anyone following his journey to learn more about the cause behind it.
Supporters can follow Dinger’s progress through @dingersbigrow and contribute directly through the Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell fundraising page.
Every donation helps support the work of Rock 2 Recovery and gives Dinger another reason to keep pushing towards the finish.
From everyone at Golden Arrow Marine, Golden Arrow Technologies and the wider team:
Good luck with the final miles, Dinger. We’re all behind you.
